I spent much of my time as a young child and teenager in the woods, fields, and wetlands of my native New Jersey. I loved finding salamanders, lizards, turtles, insects, and unusual plants. I loved the feel and smell of the woods. The wonder of nature.

My fascination with carnivorous plants started at around 8 when my parents bought me a Venus' Fly Trap, which promptly died. I poured over encyclopedias ( no internet ) and whatever books I could find and learned there were many different kinds of plants that could catch and derive nutrients from insects and other small creatures. So my search began. At around 15 I started making drawings of the plants I was now growing in terrariums. Eventually, my collection grew quite large and I began making detailed watercolors of the plants.

Over the years some were published in botanical journals and used as illustrations in books. But the work remained a sideline.

In the years since then, I have been up and down the east coast, parts of the west coast of the US, and in Ireland and Scotland finding and photographing these plants. It became an obsession. I found like minded people within the International Carnivorous Plant Society.

Here are some of the best examples of the drawings and watercolors I did over the years, along with some non-carnivorous plants as well. While I do not sell the original works, I do have one limited edition available, ( Sweet Pitcher Plant and Violet Butterwort ) and may offer small inkjet prints of some of the other works. Inquire if interested.
